Ingredients
Winter melon ( 540g ) | Barley ( Two handfuls ) |
Pork Ribs ( 530g ) | Water ( 600ml ) |
Salt ( a spoonful ) | Ginger ( 1 small piece ) |
How to make winter melon and barley ribs soup

2.Soak the ribs in cold water for twenty minutes to remove the blood.

3.Soak barley in cold water for twenty minutes.

4.Peel the ginger, wash it and cut it into shreds.

5. Remove the gourd and seeds from the winter melon.Cut in half and cut into chunks.

6. Pour away the water in which the barley is soaked and wash it twice more with clean water.

7. Pour away the water in which the ribs were soaked and wash them three more times with clean water.

8. Pour the washed ingredients into the electric pressure cooker and add 600 ml of water.Cover the pot and put the steam valve in place.Turn on the power and choose to make soup.After twenty minutes the soup is ready, turn off the power.

9. After forty minutes, open the lid and add a spoonful of salt.Stir evenly with a spoon.

10. Fill a bowl with soup.

Tips
Winter melon and barley are both cooling in nature, so those with weak spleen and stomach should drink this soup in moderation.If you don’t have an electric pressure cooker or a high pressure cooker at home, cut the winter melon into small pieces.Women should not eat barley during their menstrual period, pregnancy, or lactation period.
